My Class!

This is my class "Burns":

Some other images will follow!...

Coming to the end of my stay...

I've been at Queenswood Summer School for two weeks now! It was really a fantastic time and I am sure, I have improved my English!

I've also made a number of new friends and I hope I can stay in touch with them...that would be really great! But still, my time here is not over yet and I am really looking forward to the excursion to the Natural History Museum and the London Eye tomorrow!

I suppose that, although we are only going to have about an hour to visit the Natural History Museum, I will be quite interesting and nice!
I've never been on the London Eye so it is going to be something totally new and unknown...what I have heard about it is that you can have an increadibly good view over London!

Ah, there is still one thing to write about:
Yesterday we went to see the newest Harry Potter film "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince". I must admit, I am not really a great fan of Harry Potter but I enjoyed the stay at the cinema...it was really relaxing and the film wasn't bad!

My life in the Tudor Times...

Monday, 24th April 1559

It is 6:00 a.m., so again time to wake up. Actually, I am too tired to do anything today, but...do I have a choice? Not really. Today I am going to the market with my mother to sell the meat of our pigs because we really need this money.

The winter this year was really hard, so getting food for the pigs to make them fat was almost impossible...

Oh, I have to go now, my mother is just coming. If she catches me again writing my diary again, she will become very, very angry again because she says, it's a waste of time!

----------

I am back again, but only for a quick comment. We will go to the market this afternoon, so I will perhaps have a bit more time to write my diary than usual!

----------

I've just gone to the village centre to catch some water from the local pump for the whole family! Oh, I really hate this task, it is always such a hard work!

We will have some potatoes and bread for lunch today...as always, but, and this makes me really happy, perhaps we will also have some meat. Although we have to sell most of the meat of our pigs, my father said we should have some of it! That's fantastic!

Arts, arts, arts...

Yesterday, we went on excursion to London. We visited Shakespeare's Globe Theatre and the Tate Gallery of Modern Art.

I have never been to the Globe before and I have always been interested in visiting it, so it was really nice and I enjoyed it a lot! It was especially interesting to find out a bit more about Shakespeare's time. I think that nobody would have imagined that people in the audience were really killed because real weapons were in use during the performances...

Actually, the Globe is quite a new theatre from the 1980s and 1990s because the former building burt down during a performance of "Henry VIII" and was not rebuilt until about 1985...still it looks like the old one and you can dive into the old times and feel what the people felt at shortly after the Middle Age...

After our visit to the Globe we went to the Tate Gallery of Modern Art at the banks of the river Thames. I have already been there for a couple of times, but still it was nice to be there again. I especially liked the sculptures by Joseph Beuys.

There was another really fascinating installation with dishes which hang about 10 cm above the ground in the whole room...at first, you don't really see the tiny cables which hold them, so it is really interesting!

Dreaming about the future...

How can the world be like in 100 year's time?I would say that actually you cannot make any prediction about the future because the world changes so quickly these days.

I think that you can say most about technology. I mean, it seems to be quite clear that there won't be any cars using petrol anymore. All the oil that is on earth at the moment will have been used by 2050. So other kinds of cars must have been invented by then, using solar energy or gas for example...

How will the world look like in 100 year's time from the political point of view?

  • Will there still be the same connstellation of countries?

  • What will the continents look like?

How will the world look like in 100 year's time from the economic point of view?

  • Will there still be the same currencies?

  • Which will be the most important country for the world economy?

  • What will happen to the undevelopped countries?

Actually, there is much to guess but only little to know!...

My hero...

I think, it is really hard to say that someone is a hero for you! For me it could perhaps be the film character James Bond...

James Bond, however, has many faces. That is why I have put four James Bond actors onto this blog.

Watching a James Bond film I am always fascinated by the new technical developments, the action scenes and the nice (and funny) dialogues...

Arriving at Queenswood Summer School...

On Saturday afternoon I arrived at Heathrow International Airport. A taxi was already waiting for me and also the other students from Germany.
It is my second time in Queenswood so I was quite familiar with all the facilities on the campus.

I soon met quite a number of nice people. I must say that I was really surprised because there were many many people from last year...!
